Dancers and Toxic Plants

Here are some digi versions of a hand coloured print it did. The scanner couldn't fit the whole image in, it is more of a square shape. This print is itself another version of the watercolour in the previous posts, when i find a composition that i like i tend to explore it in a number of different ways. The original is currently part of a group exhibition of printmaking at the Post Office Gallery in Sturt Street, Ballarat.

layers baby, layers!

further exploration of watercolours, actually using proper paper this time! am still exploring the idea of layering, especially layering of mediums. this piece includes photocopy release, collage, chinagraph pencil, ink and watercolour.

dancers and bees

latest sketch using layering of ink and watercolour to mask out an old drawing that i thought was rubbish!

digital printmaking

so these are some of my pieces that combine traditional printmaking with digital prints. i'm not sure which folio to submit them to, my printmaking one or my drawing and digital one. so in case they end up in the printmaking one, here they are !

knight at the door

This is an alternative version of the piece i submitted for the "Pushing Pixels" artists book. I used a scan of my collograph plate, which I think is better looking than the prints it made. i also used a scanned image of my knight drypoint plate, so the whole piece is a digital amalgamation of various printmaking techniques.

Cars

thought i'd enter this for illustration friday's 'car' theme. some kids toys are really odd looking structures, especially these garage things (which i always loved when i was a kid, but never had myself).

Tuesday 15 May 2007

Ok, so here comes the part where my various online selves can finally meet! by this i mean i have finally put the address for this blog on my facebook, so that my friends can see what i have been up to in the rat (please note this refers to school work only!). However, the stuff on this site is only a small portion of what i have been producing. I am hoping that the pressure of having friends look at my site will motivate me to update it more often. I'd also like to say a big THANK YOU to all those people involved in the sticker project. i am still waiting on some replies, but the ones i have received are amazing, and i'd like to publicly announce how creative my friends and family are! feel free to comment, and i hope you have fun looking at my work!

scanning pics at home, oh yeah!

here are some colour ideas for my latest sketch. am not very good at colouring things on photoshop, i get impatient! plus i really like to paint things by hand, i was just mucking around!

Monday 7 May 2007

here are 2 of the 4 pieces i did for the identity assignment. one is a digital manipulation of a few different photos, the other is a mixture of a traditionally printed drypoint and a digital drypoint.

texture

Did some more explorations of scans in photoshop. Am trying to heighten the textural quality of the lines, which are originally a drypoint etching plate, prior to being inked up. i like seeing what colours are at the essence of a plate that looks grey to the naked eye. how cool is it that grey and black are really just a mixture of so many other colours.

Sticker Project

I sent out the stickers today! My project has consisted of making some artworks into stickers, cutting them up and sending them to friends and family across the country and the world. I have asked each person involved to stick the sticker somewhere interesting and send me a photo of the result. These are my two installations. A bit cheeky really, putting a sticker that says 'don't panic' onto the front of my car which i crashed over the weekend. Soon it will be fixed though, so it is a very ephemeral piece!

digital morning

This is a piece i did for my digital class this morning, sort of a response to the illustration friday topic 'hide'. i think it needs more work though...

Life Drawing

These are some pieces from last nights life drawing class, which i have been playing around with on photoshop. I feel like my style changes every time i go into a LD class, and i feel really challenged to produce figure studies that actually explore some type of concept. It is really tempting to simply go through the motions, except as Doug puts it, that would produce "boring drawing". I do need to come up with a way of extending myself in this class though...

First Post

This is my first post on this blog, its for class so i'm not entirely sure what to write. but i will add some artworks which i did over the holidays. Note my very basic of photoshop skills used to put these together!
